Half Term Week

Half term holiday homework

Your task is to promote tourism to Skegness by creating an advertising campaign. You should create at least 2 of the following;
Video advert (max 30 seconds)
Radio advert (max 30 seconds)
Newspaper advert (A4 size)
Poster (A3 size max)
Leaflet


There is also a 100 Word Challenge this week. The focus is on using verbs and adverbs. You have to include the phrase:

…we were moving very fast when …

Things to consider: Where were you going? Does speed make a difference? What would changing the speed do?


Last week, Lexi's 100 Word Challenge was chosen to be part of the weekly special showcase alongside work by students from Ireland, USA, Canada, Malaysia, as well as the UK. You can read more of our 100 Word Challenges here.

February 5th to 9th

Homework: This week we are asking the children to produce an illustrated map of either their journey to school, or of part / all of Skegness.
The 100 word challenge this week is to include: … it came down the drainpipe…  in your writing.

The week ahead:
In Maths this week we will be focussing on 2d shapes and calculation strategies.
In English we will be reading more of Skellig and developinging our stories. We will also be debating the subject of home schooling and exploring the relationship between Michael and Mina.
We will also be focussing on Internet Safety

This week

Homework for this week;

  • Maths - complete the sheet on adding and subtracting fractions given out in class
  • English - descriptive writing (describing a room)
  • English - read chapters 6 & 7 of Skellig
  • English 100 Word Challenge This week we have 5 words that you must include in your writing! They are: red before snake clock cycled  
In English this week we will be focusing on developing our inference and deduction skills as well as continuing to work on our descriptive writing.
In Maths we will be working on calculations involving fractions. We will also be revising 2d shapes.

The Week Ahead

Next week in Maths we will be adding, subtracting and multiplying fractions.









In English we will be continuing our work based on David Almond's novel 'Skellig'. In particular we will be focussing on diary entries and writing letters.

This week our Golden Leaves went to Tyler M and Macey-Jayne for their contributions to our work on First Aid.


On the 17th November we selected Tyler S and Tegan for their book reviews.
Last week we selected; Maya, Ben, Logan, Lexi and Maddie for the sensible and mature way they represented our school during the week.

Homework 8th 15th December

RE
Research or visit a Christian church. Find out about the different parts inside a church and what they are used for, e.g. font, altar, lectern pulpit.​
English: Something lost
Write a description about how you felt when you lost a treasured possession. 
If you have not lost a treasured belonging use your imagination to describe how you would feel.​
Maths: Time
Practise telling the time using both analogue and digital clocks.
Collect examples of practical uses of time, e.g. photos of shop opening times, TV schedules, bus timetables​..
